It had the weirdest way of digesting its food which it always swallowed whole. hate stones and kept them in its stomach to grind the food into tiny places! Plateosaurus grew to about 6m long and 3m tall. It mainly walked on all fours - bat could stared to reach tall plants. Its tiny teeth were used for stippling soft leaves and shoots from plants. |

Though there were massive - slow moving dinosaurs - some could really run! The coelophysis (see-lo-fie-sis) was a cunning - agile flesh-eater about 2.5m long. Standing on its back legs - it would have reached a humans waist. It was a quick - clever hunter with long - slender legs - short arms and a very long tail - which helped it balance as it sprinted after its prey. It also had a long neck so it could reach down to catch smaller animals. Coelophysis probably ate insects and small lizards. |

Lesothosaurus (lay-so-toe-sore-us) was only about 1m long -no larger than a big dog - funny kind of pet! Fast and agile - its only protection from predators was to dash away to safety as fast as it could. Its long tail helped it balance when it stood up and ran. Lesothosaurus was a plant-eater with short arms and stubby - blunt claws - which ground its food up with tiny - arrow-shaped teeth. This one's got a hat on! |

A heavyweight among the plant-eating dinosaurs - the giant Apatosaurus (up-at-oh-sore-us) weighed up to 30 tonnes - more than three double-decker bases - and was 20m long. It bad a tiny head and a long - sturdy neck which allowed it to much tree tops. It used its small - peg-like teeth to strip off leaves - which it would then swallow whole. Because it was so big it would bane bad to eat constantly to survive - and kept stones in its stomach to grind up its food. |

It was tiny compared to many of its giant neighbours - bat was still 5m long and twice as tall as a person. It had a sham - bird-like mouth for nibbling at plants - and highly specialised thick teeth with rough edges for grinding up leaves and shoots. Its wing spun was massive - up to 7m - and it would save spent most of its time gliding over the waves - searching for food. it may have had a pouch beneath its long pointed beak to scoop up fish - like a pelican does today. |

It lived in herds for protection - and moved around from one urea to another in search of fresh grazing. |

It had truly frightening - 12cm-long terrible claws on to feet. This speedy carnivore may have hunted in packs. and would use its horrific hooks to tear hunks of flesh from its doomed victims. Deinonychus (die-non-i-kus) also had long - jagged teeth for tearing into the body of its prey. It wasn't a large dinosaur - about 3m long and 1.4m tall - a little shorter than an adult human. It had spindly legs and its long tail helped it to balance while it ran. |

It also had a thick growth of bone on the end of its tail which it could swing like a baseball bat to beat off predators. |

Rival male Pachycephalosari probably used the 25cm-thick bone to boom each other in fights to establish which would lead their herd. They might also have defended themselves from preda-tors by attacking them using their heads as powerful weapons. They grew to about 6m long and would have stood twice as tall as a fully grown man. |
