Dear John - Dear John
By the time you read these lines - I'll be gone
Life goes on - Right or wrong
Now its all been said and done - Dear John
Seems we've sung love's last song - Dear John
People change as bright as day
Like the weather one day sun - next day rain
What ever happened to the plans we made
seems that they ended with a masquerade
Life goes on - Right or wrong
Now its all been said and done - Dear John

[Dear John]
  • John Lacey:Ralph Bates
  • Kate:Belinda Lang
  • Kirk:Peter Blake
  • Ralph:Peter Denyer
  • Mrs Arnott:Jean Challis
  • Louise:Rachel Bell
  • Mrs Lemenski:Irene Prador
  • Sylvia:Lucinda Curtis
  • Ricky Fortune:Kevin Lloyd

More bitter than sweet this one but tackles the subject matter head on whilst giving the characters their own space. Unfortunately Lang left to endure 'the Bretts' - note no URL - so the emphasis switched for the better as it was always seen that she was way out.

Bates unplayed the part beautifully after his Warleggan (Poldark baddie role) and is much missed (as is Lloyd) and all the others got great parts to bathe in.

An american version with Judd Hirsch and started almost with the same scripts but the sheer production bulk meant they went their own way. I've seen many but Kirk's home life was never revealed.
